EXPLORATION

(Researching and Gathering Information)

As a result of conducting self-assessment, careers and majors may emerge as good fits for you. You may then ask, "What can I do with a major in…?" or, "How do I become a…?" To further evaluate your options and help decision-making toward choosing a major, use this exploration stage to research thoroughly those careers and academic programs that interest you.

CONSIDER:

How will careers fit with your lifestyle preferences, interests and skills?
What are typical job activities and responsibilities?
Is there potential for advancement? For new opportunities elsewhere?
How can you get relevant experience?
What are the educational requirements for specific occupational fields?
What are the requirements for a major? To get declared? And to graduate?
Where have graduates gotten jobs and experience?
