The process for getting into graduate school can begin as early as spring quarter of the junior year, particularly for students anticipating starting graduate studies fall quarter following their senior year. Many steps are essential to a successful application strategy. They include:

      targeting a list of schools offering programs in your area of interest
      taking entrance exams in a timely fashion
      obtaining quality letters of recommendation
      completing application forms
      writing a personal statement
      interviewing with admission committees (in some, but not all, programs)

Meeting deadlines for these as well as scholarships, fellowships and assistantships will aid in giving you the best range of options to consider. Students are encouraged to seek direct advice and assistance from faculty. Additionally, the Career Services Center provides many resources.  You can:

      attend the workshop "Applying to Graduate School"
      meet with a counselor to discuss the overall process and develop strategies
      research placement of alumni to graduate programs, by major
      locate schools offering programs of interest with Peterson's Guides to Graduate Programs and
         web site searches
      reference examples of personal statement essays
      participate in a mock interview 
      utilize Reference Letter File Service
